I hadn’t been aware of this “Kickstarter” movie “Saving Lincoln” which is now available on DVD. I found the way it was made to be very creative.
Very interesting recreation!
I heard a different explanation from Maureen O’Hara in an interview that this was one of many songs about Ireland produced when the Irish were not allowed to talk about a free Ireland by the British. It seems odd that the tune’s melody was by an Englishman, but the lyricist wrote several Irish songs and the song was made famous by an Irish singer.
I thought some might appreciate this.
